  1947 MG Midget TC :

MG Midget TC Sports, 1947, UK
ohv, 4 cylinder, 1250cc, 54bhp @ 5200rpm

The MG Car Company announced the completion of the MG TC design in October, 1945 and had built 81 cars by the end of the year. By the time production finished in 1949, 10,000 vehicles had been built, more than three times the production of any previous MG model.
The model has enjoyed royal patronage with the purchase of one of the original production number by Prince Philip, and another MG two seater 22 years later by his son, Prince Charles.
More than 6,500 of these cars were sold outside Britain. Of those, approximately 2,000 went to America where they are reported to have transformed motor racing from a little know professional sport into an activity within the reach of many. This was primarily due to its price as the cheapest sporting car on the market in 1947, selling for 527 pounds.
The model illustrated was restored to its present 'competition standard' condition for the York Motor Museum by John Hunting.
