  1925 Lancia Lambda :

Lancia Lambda, 1925, Italy
sohv, V4, 2124cc, 50bhp

The founder of the Lancia company, Vincenzo Lancia, formed the company in 1907 after working as the FIAT Company's chief tester and racing driver. The first production Lancia model, the Alfa (the Italian spelling of Alpha - the first letter of the Greek alphabet) was released in that year. Other models continued the Greek alphabet theme - Beta, Gamma etc., with Lambda being the eleventh model.
A significant milestone in Lancia's history was its win in the Automobile Club of America's International Light Car Race in 1908, and this helped to establish the make's reputation in the United States.
However the company's classic Lambda model, introduced in 1922, was its most significant achievement, and the vehicle is now acknowledged as one of the most radical cars of the age. It is probably true to say that no car ever produced was as innovative for its time as the Lambda.
Its features included chassis-less body construction, an overhead camshaft, V4 engine and independent front suspension. Not only was the car of advanced design, it was ruggedly constructed, easy to handle and the workmanship was first class. This particular vehicle was built in October, 1925 and imported into England on 1st January, 1926.
