Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, 1914, UK
6 cylinder, 7428cc, 53bhp @ 1250rpm
Frederick Henry Royce built three 2 cylinder cars in 1904. By May of that year Royce had a commercial outlet for his vehicles through his future partner, the Hon. Charles S Rolls.
Rolls-Royce Ltd., was established and in 1907 the first Silver Ghost was released.
The Silver Ghost deservedly enjoyed a remarkable reputation as the 'best car in the world' with its main feature being the quality of its workmanship. The Ghost was renowned for the smoothness of its ride, its noiseless operation, durability and strength, indeed the chassis were so strong some were used to carry 4 ton armored car bodies developed for use in the First World War.
The Silver Ghost remained in production until 1926, by which time a total of 7,876 vehicles had been built.
This car is in remarkable condition and is one of the most original examples of the famous Silver Ghost surviving in the world today.
