  1910 Bedelia:

Bedelia, 1910, France
V-Twin, 2 cylinder, 8hp

Built in France in 1910 by two young engineers, Bourbeau and Deveaux, the belt-driven Bedelia is generally regarded as the first cyclecar to be produced on a commercial basis and was one of the better known versions of this type of vehicle.
Generally, cycle cars were crude machines and were often unkindly referred to as 'stick and string' vehicles. Although it looked like a grown-up soap box racer, the Bedelia was cheap to run and comparatively speedy. Primarily built as economic transport, later sporting versions of the Bodelia could reach 100km/h. They won such events as the 4 wheel section in the Amiens Grand Prix for cycle cars in France. The Bedelia company sold its manufacturing rights in 1920 and the marquee finally collapsed in 1925. This 1910 vehicle was originally owned by Mark Foy of Sydney department store fame and competed in several rallies throughout Australia, including the 1959 Golden Fleece Invitation Rally in Queensland.
