Avondale Discovery Farm
Location:
Avondale Discovery Farm, a working research farm operated by
Agriculture Western Australia, is located 6km west of Beverley on Waterhatch Road.
The attractions:
The Avon Valley is a productive agricultural region for Western Australia. Avondale Discovery Farm offers you a chance to picnic under the York gums, drive around the Landcare Drivetrail and visit the interactive landcare Centre to find out about agriculture in the wheatbelt. While at Avondale, you can visit the historic Settler’s Homestead, Machinery Museum, Animal Nursery and Clydesdale Horses.
A special interpretive walktrail is being developed in an area of remnant bushland on the Farm.
The experience:
Take the self-drive tour of Avondale and observe modern farming and landcare activities. Pat the animals in the nursery, walk through the landcare centre and visit the largest agricultural machinery museum in the southern hemisphere.
Entry:
Entry to Avondale Discovery Farm and all it’s attractions is free. Keep an eye out for special Avondale open days such as the Harvest Festival in November, the vintage ploughing and others – entry fees may apply to some of these events.
