The Avon River System
The Avon River
drains about 121 000 square kilometres of Western Australia’s agricultural region. The Avon River reaches from beyond Southern Cross, changes it’s name to the Swan River at Wooroloo Brook and flows through Western Australia’s capital City of Perth.
The agricultural industry contributes $3.5 billion to the Western Australian economy annually. However, land degradation has the potential to cost the State $64 million each year in lost production.
Water is the life’s blood of all civilisations. The Avon Ascent sites tell the story of our interconnectedness and the efforts being made to restore the health of the land and this river system for future generations.
